Seeing that the usage of drones has become more and more popular over the past few years came to mind when we learned about the creation of balloons and its purpose during the wars. Balloons had helped military plan out their future routes and helped newspapers draft out where their beloveds were during the war. In todays world, drones help the military in several different ways as well. It is interesting to see the progress in technology, and how something so simply as a balloon can eventually evolve into a high tech drone.
To go along with the topic of drones, I thought it was interesting how today in class Professor Kaplan was talking about how one day in the near future there might be similar problems with too many drones in their air like how planes were before we had air traffic control. It will be interesting to see what happens as we grow older and what new things are invented, or if there becomes an air traffic control for drones.

ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to hear your juxtaposition of balloons and drones. I grew up near the wine country/Napa Valley area, so I'd sometimes see hot air balloons when driving around. It's remarkable that something something that seems like an innocuous, leisure activity could've once had ramifications in the way wars were fought. Drones, now, are definitely changing the way wars are fought, like balloons once did.
