My grandpa born between WW1 and WW2 has witnessed the
evolution of aerial nations, one of the most revolutionary and significant times history in the world. Aircrafts have given us the freedom and the ability to
travel anywhere at anytime. I personally cannot imagine living without planes
and having to drives hours to travel everywhere. My grandpa was an
international businessman in the 1960’s; he was required to fly all over the
world. Since commerce airplanes were designed in the 1950s, these planes and
the idea of traveling in the air were still considered new. I wonder what the planes he traveled on were like and how they were commercialized
and modernized over his fifty year span of flying. It's interesting to think of airplanes as a new mode of transportation and that my grandpa witnessed the process of perfecting
and making airplanes accessible for everyone.
Very interesting thoughts about your grandpa's experience! I agree with you, I couldn't imagine life without airplanes either.
ReplyDeleteMy grandpa served in the war and he mentioned his travels to foreign places such as France before. I don't really talk to him about his experiences and reading your post makes me think I really should. It would be interesting to hear his experiences with the growing aerial technology.
ReplyDeleteI also couldn't imagine a world without flight. I think it is interesting that a lot of innovations especially with flight are either developed for war purposes or quickly adapted for war. I wonder if that means soon we will all be riding drones to work?
